About
Uncommonly Human is an investigation into what it means to be human in the age of artificial intelligence. I explore human agency, cognitive strength, and personal growth in the context of the challenges and opportunities we face today. If it impacts or is impacted by our use of AI then it’s on the table for a post.
This is for you if you want to use technology without losing what makes you uniquely you and authentically human. If you feel that something is slipping away with your use of AI and you want to reclaim it, then you’ll find a welcome place here.
I am not an expert, unless you count knowing my own experience as expertise. But, I don’t think my experience is unique. This experience that we share, of knowing something is off but not wanting to fall into the mistake of rejecting or embracing AI wholesale, is the starting point. Here, I’ll be documenting my experience and experimentation, peppered with some philosophy and science, and a dash of humour to boot. Essentially, I’m trying to backwards engineer the handbook for being uncommonly human in this age of artificial everything.
My name is James and I’m learning as I go. I post a new article every Tuesday. I hope you’ll join me for the ride.
